Celebrating Richard

Richard in Russia

Thank you, Ilsonya!
Read about Richard in Russian here:

Lagniappe

lagniappe

A lagniappe (pron.: /ˈlænjæp/ lan-yap) is a small gift given to a customer by a merchant at the time of a purchase (such as a 13th doughnut when buying a dozen), or more broadly, "something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure."[1]
The word entered English from Louisiana French, in turn derived from the American Spanish phrase la ñapa (referring to a free extra item, usually a very cheap one). The term has been traced back to the Quechua word yapay ('to increase; to add'). In Andean markets it is still customary to ask for a ñapa when making a purchase. The seller usually responds by throwing in a little extra. Although this is an old custom, it is still widely practiced today in Louisiana. Street vendors, especially vegetable vendors, are expected to throw in a few green chillies or a small bunch of cilantro with a purchase.
The word is chiefly used in the Gulf Coast of the United States, but the concept is practiced in many places, such as Southeast Asia, North Africa, rural France, and Holland.

We have sold our first Richard head and will be sending
a small token of our appreciation as a prize to the buyer.

The gift is something which is in our tale of Richard from here:

Here's Richard!

It was well past midnight.  Thomas had been at the party for over two hours.  He had looked idly through each of the seven ballrooms, but could not find the elusive Richard.  He thought it strange, because his brother was never late.

Thomas wandered out onto the wide flagstone patio overlooking the fragrant lush cultivated gardens. The music of stringed instruments drifted out through the open antique mullioned leaded glass windows, beckoning the party out of doors.  The cool moonlight drew dark dappled shadows through the hanging vines of wild lavender wisteria as a light breeze made the pendulous blossom petals dance with joy. The delicate fragrance floated in the air. Movement caught Thomas' eye.  Why were so many women gathered out in the rose garden?  What was all that feminine tinkling laughter?

Sauntering over to the edge of the group, Thomas could not believe what he saw.  Or rather he could believe it, because he would recognize him anywhere.  Richard was the center of attention in the middle of the rose garden.  There he stood with a blood red rose between his teeth, the Laughing Lion mask firmly in place, with a black latex g-string hiding "the goods".

Watching his hips gyrate, the women roared their approval.  Thomas thought, "They have no idea what they are bargaining for.  Richard will be the master of them all."

Where's Richard?

"Where is Richard and why isn't he at the ball?" whispered the voluptuous virginous maiden in her scarlet velvet dress.

"I do not think that Richard even exists," stated a plump oversized matron in a too-tight yellow satin bustier.

"But Thomas speaks of him often.  Surely he can't be a figment of everyone's imagination."

"Yes, he can," said the matron.  "Don't you think it is strange that no one has ever met him or seen him before? We have only heard of him from Thomas."

"I don't care.  He has intrigued my imagination.  I have fire in my heart.  If he is anything like his brother Thomas,  I will be lost. "
