Harlequin Update

This dictionary book page can be purchased here.
The group leader has received the latest round of Harlequin's photographs for approval.
The decision is:
The clay of Harlequin is proceeding into resin.
I will keep you posted.
Thank you for your deep interesting and your continued patience.

Den of Angels

Welcome!
For any of you who feel hopelessly left behind and utterly confused, I am leaving you this note.  Finding, at least a little something, has just gotten easier:  a couple of MarketPlace threads are now up on DoA !
Please be patient.
We have Super Gem masks available now.
Alice in Wonderland, the set of three masks, will be out this summer.
Divine's head will be out shortly.
Harlequin's androgynous head will be out within days and hours.
Hooves are coming.  Yes, in Super Gem size swappable with regular Super Gems at the knee.
West Nile Charlotte shoes will fit female Super Gems.
The Doormouse mask will fit Super Gem Tinies.

If you flick patiently through the blog here, you will discover what you are looking for.
I am sure you will manage to find things which you never knew existed.

The MarketPlace thread is now up for masks!
For 'on the shelf' : Find it here.

We are looking forward to switching the items regularly and weekly. So, please subscribe to that thread and check it to see what we have on the shelf.

For those of you who have found your way here from this thread on DoA, I do plan to "change the picture(s)" there on a regular basis.  You may be able to get 'first dibs' on certain things if you just happen to catch that thread right.  I do not think that that thread can be *bumped*.  So, anything special will simply go to the best watchers.  I plan to change it in much the same way as a shop window changes.
What you see there will most likely not be available on the MarketPlace.
Please subscribe.

Thank you for your deep interesting.
You may possibly acquire what is there by sending an email to cathy AT cathycara  DOT com .
This vintage 1855 print by Auguste Belloc, an early French photographer who lived from 1800 to 1867, is priced at $7,000 at Charles Isaacs Photographs.

It is Good to be Queen

I am leaving this here for the Ozian Queen.
As well as all fellow Queens.
Flaunt your Queenliness; use this with impunity.

Running Horse

I have been staring at this, trying to figure out how a horse's legs "go". The Soom leg join is 'low', I am wondering if the joint should not be rather higher.

I Want You

That is what I hope you will say, when you see Harlequin.
.

.
 ♥ I want Divine. ♥

I never wanted the stars
Never shot for the moon
I like them right where they are
All I wanted was you

I Knew I Loved You

I know that it might sound more than a little crazy
But I believe

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you

Rachel Brice

Rachel Brice is Simply Divine.  Divine, I am sure, would just love to dance with her.

Fall farther down the rabbit hole and see more of her here .

Dust

A song for our Soomy faery guy.

I am not sure that I like the song, but I do not like the Soom faery guy until he gets 'fixed up' either.  He will become more exciting after he has 'new wings'.  We will make him all sorts of wings; we will be able to share them with you for your Soom faeries.

You really might want to, hmmmm, turn the sound down on this.

Frequently Asked Questions

"Why can I not find any work-in-progress pictures of either head which you are working on? Would it really kill you to take a moment and upload a progress pic?"

First, we are talking about two different heads here. Both are male Super Gem Dollshe Hound in size.  Both are being done by the same sculptor, who is not 'me'.

When it comes to Divine, yes, it would kill us.  Sorry, but, for Divine you will simply have to wait.  The first people to see him will be the artists who have agreed to work on him.  He is going to land on their doorstep and they will get the thrill of a 'box opening' and seeing him in person for the very first time.

Harlequin's initial release will be as a 'custom sculpt group order' on DoA.  There is a group leader for Harlequin.  We consider the release of Harlequin pictures to be the prerogative of the group leader.  If the group leader has not deemed it time to release the photographs, well then, you cannot see him.  Not yet.
I agree with you: only one in-progress shot of  Harlequin out on DoA is very frustrating.  Believe me, I like hearing you *squee*.

Anyway, that is  the story of where those pictures are.
Harlequin, at this point, is one solid work day away from resin casting.
The 'however' to that is: the resin still needs to be tested before he can be sold.

Steal Your Heart

Divine is worth waiting for. He will steal your heart away. His face up artist will make sure of it.

Not a Dry Eye

Waiting for Divine means 'more music'. More music means: Meat Loaf.

This song is probably on more than one of the Wild Horses song lists; certainly it is one of the closing songs for "The Last Unicorn". The Last Unicorn is not Divine. He is actually Divine's competition.  I am still looking forward to my horse race.

Right Said Fred

This never fails to amuse us; a regular old 'classic'. It has been added to Divine's song list.

This version has a type of mask that we are thinking about creating ...

This one has Divine's umbrella in it...

Bless My Soul

"I thought I was Divine."
- Meatloaf

He says that in the song, did you hear him?

Frequently Asked Questions

Wow.  There are so many.  But, let's just 'pick one'.
"I am totally confused.  What are you people doing?  Are you 'building' something?  Will I like it?"

Well, you might like it.  Yes, we are building 'something'.  His name is Divine.

Because he will take awhile, bits and pieces of him will become available as they are ready.
Divine is a masked horse.  Many of the horses wear masks to the Masquerade Ball, but Divine takes his mask wearing seriously.
He will have lots and lots of masks to choose from.
Some masks are bigger and better than others, those are the ones that are 'more His'.  Meaning: it is probably one of those that he would actually wind up wearing to the party.
You will be able to acquire his masks.
Actually, some of them are available now.

Divine is Super Gem Dollshe Hound size.
His clothing, when He does not want it anymore, will be available.

Divine will have hooves.
His hooves will be swappable with a Soom Super Gem at the knee.
His hooves are next on the body parts drawing board.
I am guessing that they might be available in July.

Divine will have weapons.
His ultimate weapon is His Parasol, but His sword should be available reasonably soon.
Well, maybe.  Because 'Alice masks' are due out in July.

You will be able to watch Divine grow.
Divine will grow four legs.
Divine will grow a tail.
Divine will grow wings.

Of course, He will have his own body and His own jointed hands.
Both of which will be available separately.

Divine's can be anybody.
He can pretty much be any thing.
Divine's first alternative head is Harlequin.  Harlequin will be available shortly.

Divine himself is, well, coming along.
It is a terrible itch wanting to see his head out of the mold, but, we have people waiting for Harlequin.

If you have questions, you can leave them for me on the LiveJournal here.

Let's Dance

Waiting for Harlequin. Waiting for Divine.

Heart

It was a rainy night when
he came into sight
Standing by the road, no umbrella,
no coat
So I pulled up along side and
I offered him a ride
He accepted with a smile
so we drove for a while
I didn't ask him his name,
this lonely boy in the rain
Fate tell me it's right,
is this love at first sight

Even without an umbrella, when you see him,  I think you are going to be able to recognize Divine.

You Belong to Me

This song has long been on Divine's song list. Because, tha is what he does: he belongs to me.

 I just adore synchronicity.

Have a little bit of patience and watch closely. This happens to be spooky, because look, isn't that Divine making a guest appearance?

Just What I Needed

Progress on Harlequin is just what I needed. He is in the final stages of  'tweaking before casting'.  His head is undergoing the 'two part head separation'.  Then the silicone molds will get made.  It is estimated that there will be one day of  'resin testing' and 'resin matching'.  I expect that Harlequin initially will match to Soom Cream White and Volks UV NS.  Custom colors for him - such as gray, tan, lilac - would be possible, but that is one of those "far in the future, if at all" sort of things.

The sculptor has declared his lips to be, "Oh so sensuous.  He has very sensuous lips."

I said, "Sensuous lips are good.  That is just what we like."

Find the DoA thread on Harlequin here .

If you are on LiveJournal and you wish to ask me something about Harlequin, I did put a post for him here .  Photographs of Harlequin have not yet been released.  He is looking My-T-Fine like the pudding, but you need to wait just a little bit longer to see him.  He is Super Gem sized, his eyes are probably going to be 12's.

Dancing in the Moonlight

While I wait for Divine, that is what I do: I pick a favorite horse and I dance in the moonlight.

But I'm dancing in the moonlight
It's caught me in its spotlight
It's alright, alright
Dancing in the moonlight
On this long hot summer night

I Hope You Dance

Promise me
you'll always remember:
You're braver
than you believe,
and stronger
than you seem,
and smarter
than you think.

said
Christopher Robin to Pooh.
by A.A. Milne

Whether you choose Harlequin as your partner, or Divine.  Whether you lust after the sweetness of the so called God of Chocolate or the most unattainable Last Unicorn, I hope you dance.

Far Away

Waiting. Waiting for Divine. Tomorrow he should be worked on. He is so close; so close, and so far away.

I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you'll be with me
and you'll never go
Stop breathing if
I don't see you anymore

On my knees, I'll ask
Last chance for one last dance

I have loved you all along
And I forgive you
For being away for far too long

Weeener

This photograph of Weeener is by Christy Johnson.
Christy did all of Weeener's paint.  Christy also trained Weeener and educated her.  Weeener is now extremely well behaved thanks to Christy.
You can find Christy here .
Weeener is here, not only because she is Simply Divine, but because many people have met her recently.  Whether out and about on the streets of Port Jeff or at the Bebe reception, Weeener has made new friends.  People have asked for pictures of Weeener; they also need to know "Oh, yes, you most certainly do have the right blog.  As strange as it may seem, you have indeed found 'the dolls'.  And, yes, we are busy making some pretty amazing things, so keep watching."

Uncanny Dream 2011

This evening, while attending the "Bebe" artists' reception, I promised a couple of people closer looks into the 'world of the dolls'.  While, of course, I have my own world and I live quite happily ever after as Queen, other people on the planet do manage to gather body parts and create their own dream dolls.

Bramble, Clyde, and Baby Knot were all present at the Uncanny Dream show.  They were part of the "artists' dolls" on display for the exhibition.  They are part of Little Cow Harbor and they will travel home to fairyland, well, eventually.

We also sent masks as well as Charlotte to Uncanny Dream.  A special thank you to everyone who loved something enough to purchase it.

Uncanny Dream was recently held in Seattle.  It was deemed a great success with over 200 attendees.

Wait for You

Still waiting. Sultry. Sensuous. I wish you could see him.

Soon.

Walking on Broken Glass

Waiting for a new guy always causes me to play music.  The wait is always easier thinking of the horses partying.

Harlequin is created to be the epitome of androgynous beauty.  He will be able to slip and drift effortlessly between male and female roles.

When I said that I could not wait to dress him in a dress, my friend said, "A dress? But he would look so good in the style you dress your guys in.  Give him antique lace and brocade knee britches."

Of course, she is right.  But I will be walking on broken glass trying to decide which to dress him in at any given time.  He really will look so good in a dress.

Harlequin

As of this evening, the changes to Harlequin's eyes should be completed.  He now has a more sultry look.  This completes the sculpting of him.  He will move forward to "phase two" which is the casting.
The second stage of work is at least three complete days for 'clean up' and 'mold making'.  I am optimistic that he may be in resin by the end of this weekend.  Maybe. Perhaps.
All studio photos of him depict him to be Simply Divine.
You will be able to purchase Harlequin's head as soon castings are ready.  He will be acquired in the same manner as the masks: through Reservation Lists.  He will be run in small batches as time and materials allow dependent upon interest.

Rabbit Masks are Available

We do have rabbit masks out of the mold and available.  A special thanks to all of you who simply love them and have already acquired them.  I am always particularly thrilled when you re-order them and tell me that you just cannot get enough.
The rabbit masks come in white, black, brown, and sable.  The indroductory run is now over.  The rabbits are priced at $95 each plus shipping.  Insurance is required.
Send an email to cathy AT cathycara DOT com .
I would have to check availability of colors for you.
The "Alice in Wonderland" set of three masks is still scheduled for mid-summer release.  This set contains the Cheshire Cat.  The Doormouse is still planned as a fourth mask to the set.

Books, More Books

Read the review on this edition of "Dorian Gray here .
I also came home with Umberto Eco's "Confessions of a Young Novelist" .

Read  about Eco's book here .
The sculptor of Divine recently said to me, "I just cannot believe how patient you are.  I cannot believe how patient you are being.  I figured you would be screaming for him by now.  How can you be so patient when he is so close to being out of the mold?  Aren't you just dying to see him?"

I said, "Well, yes.  I am dying to see him.  Depending on how one counts, he is long overdue.  However, I do not believe in rushing things.  We have had the "Uncanny Dream" show.  We have Harlequin to get out.  West Nile Charlotte is done.  The Alice series of masks is started."

I said, "Divine is, yes, the most important thing but we have had so much else going on, it has just not  been possible to devote time to just him.  I totally understand that."

I said, "Besides, I read."

The sculptor said, "Hmmmmm?"

I said, "When I am not  busy with all things 'dollie' and 'art' related, I read."
While "fluff reading" is good in the manner that one nibble of a bonbon is pleasant, I much prefer weightier, ponderous, complex material to snack upon. I can hear one friend say that I would have never been so comfortable in any time period or anywhere on the planet as in the nineteenth century in the grand salons of Europe.  So, reaching for Umberto Eco and Oscar Wilde, both tomes endorsed by Harvard University, is right up my alley.
I miss Divine, but I miss him less, when happily engrossed in a fabulous book.
"Oh, there is really very little to tell, Harry," answered the young painter, "and I am afraid you will hardly understand it.  Perhaps you will hardly believe it."
- Oscar Wilde

Yes, I am happily waiting for Divine.  I do hope that you understand him, but I daresay you will not believe him.  He should be one rather extraordinary horse.
Are you still watching? Harlequin should be up any moment. Soon, soon.  Very soon.  Keep an eye out for him here .  His mouth looks simply wonderful.  His eye lids are being lowered for more of that "sexy bedroom" stare.

Galliano

Galliano is Simply Divine.

All of my horses are expected to be beautiful.  All of my horses are expected to dance.  One of the things that I expect from some of my horses is that they be able to take to the runway.  Rouge will excel at this.

Harlequin was born to the runway.  Divine will pound it with all four feet.  Already, I am so entertained.  I hope that you will be, too.  Watch, for you will be able to acquire the outfits "off the runway".

I am expecting more pictures of Harlequin to be "up" by perhaps tomorrow.  Keep watching; he is looking good.   The thread is here .

Charlotte is Available

West Nile Charlotte is available now.  Charlotte comes with two heads and extra elastic for quick re-stringing.  Her head moves.  Her arms move.  Her legs are stationary. "Frozen Charlottes" always have stationary legs.
Charlotte is approximately three inches tall.  She looks like an antique.  She feels like porcelain.  She is actually made of resin.
Charlotte was created to be a 'doll for the dolls'.  We will be making shoes to match Charlotte so that the dolls can 'dress like their doll'.  The shoes and Charlotte will be sold together in sets.
Right now, Charlotte is available separately.  She is priced at $65 plus shipping.
Insurance is required.  Contact me at: cathy AT cathycara DOT com .  If you wish to chat about Charlotte and do not mind everyone else listening, you can do so on LiveJournal which is here .  Please 'befriend' me or subscribe to this blog if you have not already done so.  Right this second, although people have requested it, I am still not doing any 'email notifications'.
We are planning West Nile Charlotte masks for October 2011.  I am starting the 'reservation list' now for them.  The masks have yet to be priced.  A reservation costs you nothing.
A special thank you to everyone who loved Charlotte and who purchased her at her debut at the "Uncanny Dream" show.  I am so glad that you loved her as much as I do.

That Perfect Someone

They meet at a masquerade party.  Need I say more?
Pass the time reading pulp fiction while waiting for Divine to show up.  Magnificent masked men with high heeled hooves are well worth waiting for.  Didn't you know that?  Obviously, Divine intends to be fashionably late to every party.
If I did not have one horse up my sleeve, or should I say "in my stable", who will make an appearance even later than Divine, I know that I would want to smack him.  As it is, I delight in the fact that it will be a tight race at the end.  I look forward to seeing whether Divine with four legs can out dance "the Last Unicorn".
We are working on something very special for October.  I am hoping that we can get it done on time.  You really would be endlessly amused if we could do this.  It would also provide you with a nice Super Gem sized male outfit as an option to buy.
Harlequin is literally hours away from completion.  He will make a lovely alternative androgynous head for Divine's simply divine body.  Watch for the first sneak peek pictures of him to appear here .  I am guessing that photos from the sculptor may be up by tomorrow night.
~~~
edited to add:  first tiny sneak peek of simply divine Harlequin has appeared ! See "Post 182" in the link above.
